| Checklist For New Customer |

Before you login to your account for the first time, you will need your:
-
10 digit Access ID - Printed on the letter in the welcome package from
HSBC InvestDirect.

8 digit Trading PIN - Printed on the letter in the welcome package from
HSBC InvestDirect.
-
Temporary Login Password - Obtained by calling the Client Service Centre
at 416-868-3898 or toll free 1-800-760-1180.

Login to the HSBC InvestDirect secure trading site at
-
The first time you login, you will be prompted for the following:
-
Your 10 digit Access ID.
-
To select a personal identification question from the list given on screen.
-
To provide an answer (between 8 and 16 characters long) to the personal
identification question.

To enter selected characters of your temporary Password provided by HSBC
InvestDirect, change it and confirm the change.
-
To enter your temporary Trading PIN provided by HSBC InvestDirect, change it,
and confirm the PIN change.

In order to provide you with integrated real time quotes, you are required by
the exchanges noted below to review and accept their exchange data agreements.
This can be done the first time you login or later. If you do not accept, you
will be provided with delayed quotes.

Montreal Exchange

New York Stock Exchange
-
Nasdaq
-
Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (HKEx-IS)

Options Price Reporting Authority (OPRA)

You will be asked to set your start page, create account aliases and email
preferences. Other preferences can be set up under "Preferences" on the Home
menu. For Joint Accounts, each person is issued their own Access ID enabling
them to set up their own personal preferences. Any additional HSBC InvestDirect
accounts you open will be linked to your Access ID.

Once the above steps are completed, you are ready to begin trading. Online help
is available on all of the site pages.

| How to check your browser version |
| For Microsoft Internet Explorer: |

Click on "Help" in the top menu bar, then select "About Internet Explorer". A
pop up box will display your version number. If it is below 5.5, then you will
need to upgrade to a higher version. Simply visit www.microsoft.com to upgrade.

| For Netscape Browser: |

Click on "Help" in the top menu bar, then select "About Netscape Browser". A
pop up box will display your version number. If it is below 7.0, then you will
need to upgrade to a higher version. Simply visit www.netscape.com to upgrade.

| For Mozilla and Firefox: |

Click on "Help" in the top menu bar, then select "About Mozilla/ Firefox". A
pop up box will display your version number. If it is below the version noted
above, then you will need to upgrade to a higher version. Simply visit
www.mozilla.org/ to upgrade either browser version.
